What do I do?
I write stuff down, I think things, I see things. I may even take pictures. Fuck You.
If you don't like what I say, don't read, If you don't like what I see, don't look.
There are things out there which I don't like - you may be one of them.
You may be one of me, who cares? Make your mind up, speak your mind. Do no harm, but speaketh the truth.
Do you have thumbs?

A day out for the rugby

(viewed 108 times)
A brilliant day out for me and the boy at Twickenham for Harliquins Vs
Wasps.
With all the entertainment - X-Factor finalists, Abba tribute bands,
cheerleaders and fireworks and the beer! It was an excellent day out!
Although 'Quins lost 21-20!

Snow Day = Chaos

(viewed 147 times)
Oh yes - it all looks lovely

It took me three bloody hours to get home, all because we can't mix
transport and the weather in this country.
Fog
Snow
Wind
Rain
Leaves
Heat

If it freezes tonight it will be total fucking mayhem in the morning -
bollocks to it - I'll work from home, I've got enough to do!
Maybe one day

Ho Ho Humbug

(viewed 101 times)
This photo was taken in Epsom.
Epsom has been described as a 'historic market town' - full of history.
You would think they would be able to do better Christmas decorations!

Even the pikies do better…!

Nutcracker at Epsom

(viewed 153 times)
Occasionally I try to get a bit of culture. I read, I go to museums and I see shows.

Never been to the ballet though....

Last night I did though - although a little early in the year, I managed to see (with the wife) The Nutcracker by Russian State Ballet Academy of Perm.

It was awesome - I got some culture damm you and would reccomend seeing something like this at least once.

Although small Epsom Playhouse are doing Swan Lake next year too!

Next i'd like to go to the opera!

Dissapointing Epsom Downs

(viewed 117 times)
As a resident of Epsom I get to go to the races on a fairly regular
basis. Bookies do well in Epsom and the races are in our mindset.
So why are they trying so hard to dissapoint us/take our money?
Before I get to bank holiday Monday, let us remember what they did for
the Epsom Derby…

Moved it to a Saturday
"Not so bad" I hear you say…
No
By having it on a Wednesday made it special.
Local firms used to close for the day. Local schools too…
Companies used it as a day out during working hours to wine and dine
(sometimes clients, sometimes generally). Families could go out and
sit on the hill, and watch the same as the queen!
Saturdays made it a normal day out at the weekend.
which brings me to the family fun day.

Remember that phrase:
Family
Fun
Day

The only true part of that statement was 'day'
For £15 per adult you can get into the Queens or Duchess Stand for the
fun - some games, a farm and a bouncy castle… on top of that you pay
for food, a broshure and drink - all not cheap...
Or you could go into the Lonsdale enclosure with it's bouncy castle
and ice cream van... This was only £5 per adult....
Family - including the tickets, parking and food you are talking about
£100 and this doesn't include the bets you feel obliged to meet.
Fun - the quality of the entertainment was poor and by the end of the
day it was packed - not much room for kids.
Day - yeah it was daytime!

Me?

We parked early for free, took a packed lunch and some drinks, toys
for the kids and sat on The Hill - a real fun day!

And I ended up in profit from the bookies!

Neptunes Staircase

(viewed 142 times)
An amazing feat of engineering - a series of locks in the Caladoneon
Canal. I couldn't get the height on this picture to it justice!

Atop Ben Nevis

The highest mountain in the UK. It was wet and windy all the time we
were there..... Right up to the point we left!
