These moments brought to you by Moblog

(viewed 854 times)
This past Friday, I drove 30 minutes into Boston & picked up the daughter of my dear Moblog friend, Gael. I've never met Gael, but my daughters' favorite books were gifts from Gael. And they spent Friday reading, playing, laughing, & creating salt dough ornaments with Gael's daughter.

Moblog has given me the gift of a global community that continues to have a daily presence in my life, even though I only seem to visit Moblog for the Advent Calendar.

Thank you & happy holidays, Mobloggers!

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is all decked out in the hopes that festive holiday cheer will alleviate festive holiday travel stress. Some weary folks are ignoring it in favor of a sit down. But the kids are fascinated.

"This is the tree in front of our city hall. I would like to wish everyone all the best for the season. Just stay healthy, love yourselves and be gentle to the people around you. Thank you for your friendship"

3rd Day: Hope

(viewed 907 times)
I don't much like the world these days, so much hatred and far too many people dying for no good reason.

So, whatever this time of year may mean to you, whether it's warmth from the cold, white wine in the sun, a time to celebrate or just another month...

I hope this can be a time of thoughtfulness, of small kindnesses abounding, that everyone may receive something they dearly wish for as well as what they desperately need.

All my best hopes to all people.

Day 2 City Lights

(viewed 1141 times)
My mum looks forward to the Moblog Advent Calendar every year. It's the
only thing she really understands of what I "do" or am involved with on
this thing called the Internet. She'd be the first to admit that
she understands advent calendar better than even Facebook, which she
doesn't understand. The reason she understands it is because she
understands that it is organized from volunteering, held together
by goodwill and fueled by artistry, thoughtfulness and creativity. It is
sustained by timeless efforts and tireless values that "technology" merely
provides another means of self expression that she is already familiar with.

So it's great for me that a photo of her has been snuck into this years
edition. We took these photos together at the Rockefeller Center, New York
and she suggested I try and do a selfie reflected in the bauble, but due to
physics, the result was that we actually all ended up in it, my mum, my dad
and myself.

I share this because last week my parents came to visit me for the first
time since I moved across the pond 5 years ago. It was important to me and
for all of us really, as a family. In a way, they returned my heart to me
by making that trip. Now they understand why I can call home 3500 miles
away. And my heart can be where my home is. Distance is no match for
the love of family.

Time and space are dimensions but reality is love.

So, I am glad for all these experiences. And thankful. And wish you and
yours, the same peace that comes from knowing you are loved, no matter
where you are, from no matter where they are, no matter how far away or how
long ago.

"Peace be unto us, peace be unto all."
