Leaving Dubai was pretty cool (actually it was 32 degrees C at 5am) we could see the Palm installation out of the window and the Burj al Arab Hotel (7 stars).
The "World" project is still under construction and didn't look much more than it did last year.
Emirates is, by the way, a great way to fly (no I don't get paid to say that). A flight of 11.5 and then 7.5 hours is never going to be a barrel of laughs but Emirates make it less crap.
Just give us a little more leg-room and it'll be a pleasure. Maybe when the Airbus 380's come online.

Before we left Oz I wanted to get some "proper" portraits of the family.
I particularly like the last one, of Maxine & Eric.

We all piled down to Cotersloe Beach after Maxine finished work to stock-up on fish & chips and get ourselves in position for the spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean that occurs there most evenings.
Then a huge rain cloud positioned itself right in front of where the sun should have been on the horizon and sat there until it got dark.
Fish'n'chips were nice though, if you could keep the seagulls off them long enough.

We thought this looked like she was stood in front of a holiday promotion poster, not the real view over the city from KP.
