Festival Prep

(viewed 1017 times)
After tomorrow I'll have a lot more interesting festival pictures, but for now I just have a shot of the pictures I'm turning in for my teacher exhibition.

I didn't realize I need one until a kid came and asked me for mine today... I asked him if I could have an hour, and this is what I came up with. Thank goodness for the great photos I had stored on my phone!

On the way home...

(viewed 918 times)
Not much to this post really, just taking some pictures of flowers before it gets too cold. Fall is certainly setting fast.

The first is the front of my school, and the second was taken as I rounded the corner to my house. The house you see is actually mine, or well, 1/3 mine. It still counts.

Simple Fun

(viewed 1013 times)
Went to karaoke with Michelle today, which was really a nice surprise. I have no money at all, and she offered to pay for us both ^^ I haven't been out to sing in a few weeks, and decided to do a lot of ridiculous songs and songs I'd never tried before. Please note the name of one of the songs. You never let me down, Japan. Definitely a good afternoon. Good Saturday in general.

Now off to watch this weeks Psych and Project Runway with Jade ^^

Bottle Caps & Coffee

(viewed 1101 times)
Today my kids were getting ready for the school festival. Every year, they do a BIG spectacle on the back of the stage. Last year it was cans strung together to make a big picture, and this year it's bottle caps. Here you can see one of what I think was about 20 groups, assembling their very specific part of the puzzle. The bags and bags of caps were amazing, they've been collecting them for months. I'll take a picture of the finished project when they get it up!

Secondly, the coffee I was given after I got back from taking pictures of the kids working. I just thought the can was way too pretty not to take a picture off. You know, Tommy Lee Jones is the commercial face of this brand.

BOSS indeed.

Lastly, I just added another picture of the progress of one of the groups as I was leaving work. Impressive, isn't it? They did that in less than 30 minutes. I can't wait to see it when it's all done!

Nabe Preparations

(viewed 1065 times)
Tonight my friend Michelle is coming over, and we're making nabe! I've had it pretty much all week, but I bought a different soup tonight, and slightly different ingredients, so it should be okay!

What is it about a bunch of random meats and veggies boiling in a pot that makes it so easy to get people to visit me? This is the second time this week I won't be eating my nabe alone!

I hope this trend of easy visitors keeps up as it gets colder!

Flower Shop and Food

(viewed 1107 times)
I tried to go to the gym today, and while I did make it there, it turns out it's closed on Wednesdays. How could I forget something like that? Oh well.

This is a flower shop that sits right next to the gym, and totally doesn't fit in with the buildings around it, which are mainly a giant parking garage and a rec center. I love it though. Usually I sit outside the gym and eat a pear or something before going in, and this place is the best little unexpected view.

In other news, I bought a nabe cooker, and plan to eat nothing but delicious veggies from now until the end of winter ^^

End of Summer

(viewed 1321 times)
In a last hurrah of the summer, I finally worked up the courage to wear my yukata out into the world. I had it made last summer, and was too late with it. This year, I just kept being out of town when occasions arose to wear it. So finally, at the last big fireworks festival of the summer, I went out in it!

I think it went pretty well, and the fireworks were amazing. I guess I can accept that it's quickly becoming fall.
