"I tried once to open too many doors at a time, it was unproductive and confusing.
I just learned the last lesson, Dad. I'm supposed to open just one at a time, and only when I reach them along the path, this 'hike' we are taking. That's when the key fits, and opens the lock perfectly, every time. Thank you, Dad. I love you, and miss you. I am blessed with an amazing husband now, he holds my hand as we walk along paths too. We are climbing a little steeper now, with more effort, and thinner air. But I'm not worried. I am looking up. I am living in the moment, being now. Because when we get to the next door, along our path, I know, Dad, . . . that key is going to fit, perfectly!"

A Red-bellied Woodpecker Sighting!!!

(viewed 254 times)
We heard the 'gently rapping' ~but it was not the Raven (quoth "Nevermore"). His pimped out cousin, the Red-bellied Woodpecker stopped by with his lady! Sorry pic is vague, (he is left under the branch)
I provided a link to a close up of the species. ~

Three species on the 3rd! Here's to My Big Year!

Love Cornell Lab of Ornithology!

Good Morning Mr. Sandhill Crane, You brighten up my day

(viewed 292 times)
"Come sit beside me in your way"

I did not see the Sandhill Crane family outside a restaurant like the Bee Gees had seen a sun beam, but I did see them through the Trailer kitchen sink window! Nothing like being half awake and having 3 nearly four feet tall birds (taller than some Hobbits) saunter past! Sorry that the pics were through the Trailer door window, but Sandhill Cranes are nervous, and I wanted to get a shot or two (with the camera) before they flew away! Mr. & Mrs. have a baby this year. (note pic in lower right corner has 3 birds) It must be in the air. The local news reported hatching action at the Bald Eagle nest night before last! I will post some clearer pics of these extraordinary birds and a video! Just another blessing at the Compound. I can hear them now outside with their prehistoric Pterodactyl calls!

Lonely Days ~ The Bee Gees

2013 Sunshine

(viewed 345 times)
The brand new year has a local slant on fragile beginnings. The eye on the New Year sky is our mated pair of American Bald Eagles, their two nested eggs, and a web cam. They are absolutely beautiful on camera, and in person to watch soar and dive! The link is provided:

The busy highway adjacent to her nest, reminds us of our modern pace. The 35 days it takes to hatch a Bald Eagle egg remains unchanged. Her view from the nest is a perfect reminder of what we are faced with accomplishing, and what we can realistically do. May we all find that balance in 2013, American Bald Eagle style.

(this is the song I was listening to while watching the eagles fly above me . . . Thank you, AW)

Birding Expediation Cancelled

(viewed 382 times)
I was so PSYCHED for our Birding Expedition Today! A combination of a noontime high temp of 51° and our birding companions being 'under the weather' has scrubbed the beginning of my Big Year. The locale was to be the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, on Sanibel Island, FL. The birds there are extraordinary! It's like a bird mall!

Well, 2013 is right around the corner.
Maybe I can still beat Bostick!
