A tale of old and new

(viewed 36 times)

A colleague's new 2Gb Ipod Nano, vs. my now very old 80Gb Creative
monster.

...and yet I still have no desire to replace mine.

Broiling the produce

(viewed 32 times)

I spent much of yesterday evening, broiling tomtoes which have ripened
since coming out of the garden, and husking and broiling the year's crop of
tomatilloes. I'm really pleased with the tomatillos crop, especially
considering they're heat-loving plants and they cropped so well through this
cool wet summer! There are now several kilos of broiled tomatoes and
tomatilloes siting in my freezer, for any moment the desire to make a good
salsa should strike.

It's amazing how waxy your fingers can get when husking tomatilloes.

Last night I had a ghostly experience and turned into a bad 60s acid flashback...

In other news, still horribly busy.

Oh, and it was my anniversary on Thursday. I've now been in the UK for three years!

The last of the summer squash

(viewed 87 times)
Tiny, baby little button squash, courgette cigars and some green beans. I
decided that with the weather growing cooler they were not going to grow, so
I picked them in all their glorious babyhood and turned them into a
delicious mole, served with brown basmati and wild rice.

Kitchen scissors for scale.

So long blanket

(viewed 93 times)
AKA "What became of all that dyed wool?"

It became a completely hand-made blanket! I finished it last week, just in time. As planned, it turned out in size something between a single and a
double blanket - it barely covers my little antique double bed.

Unfortunately I'm going to stay very busy, so expect me to be quiet for a while.

I've entered the real estate game

(viewed 176 times)
To let: one hedgehog palace. All mod cons. Architect-designed, with a unique
history (only known one to ever have been built in Antarctica). Attractive
decor, disguised as a heap of garden trash. Well insulated. Rent includes all bills and all
the slugs and snails you can eat. Free dogfood for interested parties.

Mesmerising

(viewed 228 times)
In a creepy kind of way. The fanged cricket walks time along the clock, as though it's consuming time.
