Boabs

(viewed 755 times)
Every picture tells a story.

Boabs grow in the tropics of Australia. The trunks can be huge, as this is where they can store water for long periods of time.

When I see these Boabs in Kings Park I am both happy and sad. Happy as, they remind me of the time when was living in Kununurra. Sad because the Boabs in Kings Park are a long way from there home (about 3600km). They have been brought down from the Argle Diamond Mine area (about 70km as the crow flys from Kununurra), The mine environmental people have stockpiled the boabs that were in the way, with a view of planting them back when the mining has been completed. A few of these stockpiled boabs have made their way to Perth
