Flood! (kinda)

(viewed 355 times)
The recent rains seem to have put quite a strain on the drainage system round here.

Milk 'n' Cookies

Nick {my eldest, just turned 15} plays guitar and sings with his band.
Some might remember when I gave him that guitar for his birthday last year.
Tonight they were up there in the "Green Dragon", Zevenaar playing to the crowd.
The kid's been playing a year.
He knows more now than I took ten years to learn.

School's out!

(viewed 307 times)
In Holland, when the exam-grade students have finished their last exam they'll usually hear within a week or so whether they've passed or not.
Those that pass, and therefore are finished with their studies (untill their further education might begin), put the flags out and "hang up" their school bags, having no more use for them.
This is my neighbour-but-one's house, so congratz to her.
There are flags and bags hanging out all over town, all over the country.
Must be tough for those that didn't pass.

I put out the flag and hung the blow-up waterwings on there when my kids passed their swimming 'A'-diploma, they were about seven.

New kitchen gadget!;

So we bought (another) kitchen gadget, a steamer.
Tried it a couple of times now.
What a brilliant bit of kit!!
This is Salmon with an orange and lime juice & rind, bit of s&p;, pinch of sugar, thyme and rosemary from the garden.
Sugar snaps and baby corn, with spiced new potatoes.
All sitting there waiting for me to press the 'on' button.
20 mins later;
mmmmmmm
(I hope)

Robins!

(viewed 374 times)
I learned something about Robins from a lady there who knew much about wild birds.
I always thought that you'd only ever see one Robin Red Breast in one area because the males were so territorial.
Turns out the males and the females look identical (red colouring) so you could see two birds working the same area.
The youngsters are a mottled brown colour.
These were almost tame enough to feed by hand.

Sunday lunch outdoors

(viewed 416 times)
With Cor and Fran.
Musical accompaniment provided by Nick who's only been playing a year and is pretty damned good!
Yes, I'll be there in the "Dragon" on Saturday to watch your performance there, armed with Nikon.
