Appelflapjes!

(viewed 1891 times)
Chopped apple, cooked in a little lemon juice, sugar & vanilla with butter and a handful of currants.
Squares of (frozen, thawed) puff-pastry folded over a spoonful of the cooled apple mixture, edges sealed, brushed with egg and sprinkled with sugar and bunged in the oven for 20 mins.
So good, still warm or cooled off.

Apple-factory!

(viewed 1115 times)
We were busy little apple choppers last night.

The Apple Compote is XL-ent, with fresh Thyme from the garden, a Vanilla pod and Cinnamon sticks cooked through it. The taste is just fabulous! Used later on in the winter in an oven dish; layers of mince, zuurkool and mashed potatoes, a "hunter's" dish.

The Dutch Apple Cake turned out perfect too, we're just going round to Boet & Mrs.Boet for coffee, I'll take some with me.

Wot-a-Crop-a!

38 (very large) apples off our little tree this year.

We've been busy making all sorts of goodies with them this afternoon but what's the best way to preserve apples whole, for eating?

Chair-torture

(viewed 2237 times)
Anja being "consumed" by an 8,500 dollar massage chair while we waited for our photo's to be developed in Harvey Norman.
It grabs your arms and legs (she's pulled her arms out of the vice-like grip in the armrests) and rolls four miniature bowling balls up and down your spine for twenty minutes.

BFPO under threat!

(viewed 1334 times)
I've been asked to pass this on.
If you are a British citizen, resident or Expat please visit the website and sign in.

Thank you.

Though we all understand that defence cuts are to be made, this is an
area which affects the families in particular. The BFPO system is the
mechanism whereby post is received by our serving soldiers and their
families abroad at a postal address recognised as being part of this
country, no matter where in the world they are serving, even in war
zones.
Amongst other things this disenfranchises them if they are postal v
others; some credit card providers will not send cards abroad (M&S; for
example) whereas they will to a BFPO address; it may affect their
ability to let their house whilst posted abroad, or away from home; it
may take away their tax advantages such as being able to have an ISA20
whilst posted abroad. It will affect Open University students who have
a BFPO address as they will be charged higher fees; it will potentially
effect children of serving soldiers when they go to University, as they
may not be eligible for student loans/fees to be paid, and will be
charged higher fees as they live abroad. They will also be charged
different rates for subscriptions etc as they will now have to come via
local mail, and not the UK mail.
Thanks for supporting our soldiers and their families in this way.

petition

I hope you will be able to join this campaign

Yours

A bit of Clydebank history.

(viewed 1780 times)
This 100 year-old warehouse is being pulled down in January for flats.
It's somewhere I've been fascinated with for the last 7 years.
Got permission from the site manager to take some shots, last time I wandered round there with a camera they thought I was some kind of industrial spy!
I'll be sending some of these, and others like them to the company next week, see if they're interested in doing anything with them.

Mock-up

(viewed 794 times)
Something I'm considering getting done on 3 canvasses.
It's from a photo of that Banksey Artwork in the Waterloo underpass a couple of years ago.
