Lucia de Berk is (all but) acquitted today.

(viewed 1444 times)
Just back from the court in Arnhem where Lucia went through a pretty scary process for what hopefully must be the last time.

Over nine years ago Lucia was sentenced to life without parole for 3 murders & 7 attempted murders. Today she saw justice served for the first time.
Metta de Noo & her brother Ton Derksen have worked tirelessly during most of that period to bring this miscarriage of justice to the attention of whoever would listen.
Many others have given their time, expertise & energy to see this wrong righted.

On 14th April the judges will give their final verdict, a formality, the Public Prosecutor basically rolled-over today and admitted her innocence. They had no case to present and it was all wrapped up just after lunch.

Lucia is not required to be present on the 14th of April.

The last word in court was hers. She used that opportunity to thank all those who have worked on her behalf. You know who you are, I hereby pass on her gratitude to you all.

Made a new one for the website.
I still think I prefer "Manipulating" images to actually taking the shots. The photography is often just a means to gather material to tweak in PS.
I'm by no means a "purist".

Dressed in white

The Uk is covered in snow from land's End to John O'wotsit.

This (daily updated) satellite image from Flash Earth shows it beautifully.

To say the least!

Arrived at this place, which will remain nameless for now, at 12.55hrs for a fixed booking time of 13.00hrs.

Those of you in the UK, look out the window. Now that's not bad going in this weather, dontcha think?

They've put me "wait" because they don't have room for the stuff. This could take hours.
Useless bunch of gits.

If I did my job half as badly as some of the fools I come across on a daily basis there would be dead people strewn across the carriageway.

Award!

(viewed 2000 times)
I received this "Diploma of Honour" (and spangley medal) from Geert at work the other day.
Wasn't too sure what it all meant until I looked it up on t'internet.

The IRU is a European agency covering most countries in Europe and the Employer's organisations within those countries.
Every year they trawl around their members looking for professional drivers who might fit their criteria for this award.
There were 1097 awarded in the whole of Europe last year, just 94 in the Netherlands (there are about 160,000 registered, qualified drivers in NL).

Criteria include;
More than 20 years experience on the roads
Not having caused any major accidents during those 20 years, where serious injury was involved
Having covered at least a million kilometres during that period
Been working to the the present employer's full satisfaction for at least the last 5 years
Having made no serious errors concerning customs, administration or other regulations in the last 5 years.
That sort of thing.

I'd heard of this thing before, but in 23 years never met a driver who'd actually been awarded one.
Perhaps they're all just keeping quiet about it, they'll all come out of the woodwork now with; "oh yeah, had mine for ages"
Still, one of only 94, out of a potential 160,000, that ain't bad!

(I shall NOT be seen wearing that medal any time soon)

And, Mams, Paps & Edwin, tnx for the flowers!
