Tough horses!

(viewed 1000 times)
And very friendly.
They're virtually wild, no contact with humans other than herding them about. Out there in all weathers.
I think they may have been hungry, what with all the grass covered in frost.
Next time I'll go with a pocket full of carrots or something.
Very inquisitive, if a little shy and jumpy.

"Pretty" Cold out!

Just had to get out there and capture all this frost before it all disappears tomorrow.
It's been really really cold here all week, frost, on frost, on frost, most unusual for it to stay frozen like that.
No snow, this is all frost.
Like an icy hand waved all over northern Europe and deep-chilled everything.
This is a little nature reserve about five minutes drive from my house, (near Pannerden) There were loads of photographers out and about.

When it's not been (freezing)foggy, it's been fabulously blue.
The freezing night-fog has put layer upon layer of frost on the bare trees and down in Limburg today there's been a fair bit of snow lying.
Must get out early morning with the "big guns" and photograph those frosty twigs before it all disappears.

The case of Lucia de B. must be reopened as soon as possible

(viewed 588 times)
This full page advertisement was placed in the Dutch newspaper "NRC Handelsblad" last week. It contains the names of 850 Petition signatories. If you signed the online petition your name will be here too.
Here is a translation of the text:

Lucia de Berk was sentenced to life imprisonment for seven murders and three attempted murders. According to experts the deaths, when examined individually, could all be considered to be of natural causes and were initially recorded as such.
The fact that Lucia was present at a death "so often" was cause for suspicion for the hospital.
There are no witnesses, there is no proof, and no confession; there is however a negative image-forming through fear and rumour.
According to the court only one of the "murders" was proved, legaly and securely, the rest followed on in the so called "chain-construction". This one "murder" was apparently committed by an intoxication of "Digoxin". According to many top experts the possibility of Digoxin poisoning has since been discounted. The "Commission for Evaluation of Closed Cases" has found that had the court known this fact then acquittal in all ten cases would have followed. Their report concluded that there was also evidence of:
Incomplete statistical research and errors in that research:
Incomplete medical information:
"Coaching" of police by hospital staff:
Inaccuracies in the test methods for Digoxin:
Choice of expert witnesses was on the basis of personal acquaintence and not on level of expertise:
Not being open to alternative scenarios.
The Commission talks of "intuitive feelings".
Even so there is still no talk of reopening the case: first another investigation must take place.
Lucia will spend this Christmas in prison, for the seventh year.

More information on this disgusting state of affairs is to be found at (or the link "Freedom for Lucia" on the left of this page)

If you haven't done so already please, please read as much as you can about this case and sign the online petition, last week's 850 names have already grown to over 1100, including hundreds of scientists and experts in various fields.

Thank you for your support.

Carole, do you have anything to add?

Anja's Mum sings in a choir called "Het Hooge Bongertkoor".
They're very, very good.
Here's a link to their "Transeamus" (or part of it) on my YouTUBE page.
It really was XL-ent today!
