“There are no grades of vanity, there are only grades of ability in concealing it”

Mark Twain

Trying out this project thing. See if I can last beyond 24 hours. I sincerely doubt I'll make it through the year.

I'm not always overly fond of my face. So, sorry.

Lovely sunny day. We went to Headingley to buy books (and records). I
bought a couple of Greenes, a D.H. Lawrence and an Alice Walker. I
also lusted after a very nice pine dressing table in one of the retro
stuff shops.

I also decided to put my time to good use and complain about the
response to the complaint I sent in to the BBC about Catherine Tate
starring in Dr Who:

"... I now wish to complain about this response. I found it
inflammatory and insensitive, particularly this sentence: "She is an
extraordinarily skilled, versatile and talented actor who is held in
huge affection and admiration by everyone."

Bearing in mind that I have felt moved to complain about Catherine
Tate's appearance in Dr Who, how can the BBC state that she is held
in "huge affection and admiration by EVERYONE"? Do I myself not
count? I felt inflamed and offended by this statement.

I have also asked everyone I know about Catherine Tate and have yet
to find anyone who holds her in affection and admiration. I surveyed
everyone in my office and not one person appreciates her television
show or enjoyed her appearance in Dr Who. I guess all those people
are excluded from the BBC's version of "everyone" too.

I think the BBC should be a little more careful when wording
responses to complaints. It reflects badly on the organisation when
people are made to feel that their views (or their entire being)
don't count."

I'm so going on to the list of crazies. Now do you think The Craven
Herald would be interested in the Tate saga?

Tea fixes everything. Except the BBC.

"Dear Helen

Thank you for your e-mail regarding 'Doctor Who'.

I understand that you are unhappy that Catherine Tate will be the new
assistant to Doctor Who.

Catherine Tate made a huge impact on audiences in last year's
Christmas special, and it is wonderful news for 'Doctor Who' fans
that she is going to accompany the Doctor on his travels in our next
series, and fabulous for the BBC to be working with Catherine again.
She is an extraordinarily skilled, versatile and talented actor who
is held in huge affection and admiration by everyone.

Please be assured that your comments have been registered on our
audience log. This internal document is available to the 'Doctor
Who' programme makers and senior management.

Feedback of this nature helps us when making decisions about future
BBC programmes and services and your comments will play a part in
this process.

May I take this opportunity to thank you again for taking time to
contact the BBC.
