Paper Aeroplanes on stage
You may know I volunteered at the London 2012 Olympics as a 'Gamesmaker'.
We were advised not to post anything specific about out role on social
media, but I guess now my involvement is (sadly) over I can share a little
more and a few pictures.
So, my role? A 'Sports Statistician' for the tennis. That's right, every
serve speed, first serve, second serve, double fault, forehand, backhand,
volley, winner, ace, forced error, unforced error throughout the tournament
was observed, called and inputted by a small team of dedicated volunteers,
of which I was a part, and the nice people working with us at Omega.
Despite long hours, a bit of stress, lots of rain, multiple training
sessions since September 2011 it was an incredible experience on all counts.
I got to meet some great people, watch some fantastic tennis, have a laugh,
talk to and assist spectators from all over the world... and wear that very
distinctive uniform!
I am so glad I played a small part in such a fantastic show. On the advice
of Sebastian Coe I can say, "I made London 2012".
