Japan 2008: Sapporo, again

Our journey needed us to spend one more night in Sapporo to catch an early plane home: so we stayed in the Hotel Coms, which is actually inside Sapporo's New Chitose Airport. Picture 3 was the view from our bedroom window.

Dead animals, Otaru Museum

Technically, these are both in the annex building rather than the main museum. The stuffed dog was apparently a local hero, who used to help the fire brigade in rescues.

Nishin Goten Kihinkan Villa, Otaru

The lavishly decorated former home of the Aoyama family, who built it all on herring money. (There's a lot of herring in Otaru.) Picture 2 is a detail of one of the ceilings.
