Hama Rikyu Garden

Pretty oasis of calm a short ferry ride away from Asakusa. Picture 1 by The BBG. Pictures 3 and 4 depict the Duck Mound - at one point the gardens were used for duck hunting, and the mound is a small shrine in their honour so that the current inhabitants aren't attacked by vengeful zombie ducks. Or something.

Harajuku

Specifically the area around Jingu-bashi bridge, where every Sunday afternoon young people dress up to frighten the oldsters and delight the tourists (and, probably, the pervs too). Picture 2 by The BBG.

Ghibli Museum, Mitaka

Spiffy museum dedicated to the works of Studio Ghibli, the Japanese animation studio responsible for Spirited Away and other classics (picture by The BBG). The second picture shows the special bus that takes you to the museum from the station - Totoro fans will be disappointed that it's not a gigantic hollowed-out cat, but you can't have everything.

The rather lovely temple, which is the main reason why people visit Asakusa.
