Italy v France, Cargo
Seeing the World Cup Final at another of my favourite gig venues. Decent beer and food, big screens, and a packed crowd enjoyably split between France and Italy supporters.
The video shows the inability of my Nokia 7610 to record the crowd reaction to Zidane's penalty. Obviously, this was early in the game before he had a sudden rush of Materazzi to the head.

One of London's nicest gig venues is showing World Cup matches on their big screen - for £10 entry you get three drinks thrown in (approx value £9) and a decent view of the game with a good-sized crowd. I think that Saturday's audience included the funny one out of Gervais and Merchant (skinny bloke on the left of the central clump of people), but couldn't say 100%. And yes, that's Rooney on screen there.

New ways to watch World Cup matches, number 2: accompanied by two competing jazz trios, one representing each team, simultaneously improvising a score as the match plays live on a big screen. The publicity promised 'squeaky bonk impro', but it worked out much better than that sounds, swinging between old fashioned silent movie scoring and amusing quotes from old favourites. ('The Winner Takes It All' when Sweden equalised, and 'The Death March' when Owen was stretchered off.)
