Summer nights in Toyako Onsen

(viewed 669 times)
Two regular events take place every night in Toyako Onsen during the summer, as advertised in the first picture. There's a firework display on the lake, the cue for endless futile attempts to capture it using a cameraphone. And before the fireworks, there's a rather fun circle dance in the harbour - there are only six steps involved, and everyone can join in.

Welcome to Toyako Onsen...

...the penultimate leg of our Japan tour. Although strictly speaking, "welcome to the Hotel Kawanami" is more accurate, and can be sung to the tune of Hotel California. Wakka-wakka-wow wakka-wak wah wah.

QB Barbers, Sapporo Station

(viewed 1263 times)

Sapporo Beer Museum

(viewed 1931 times)
Various displays from the showcase for Japan's premier not-quite-as-good-as-Asahi beer. The first is from a series of models theoretically showing you how they make beer (not to scale): the second is a pre-release display of Sapporo's newest malt beer, guarded by ferocious animals: and the third is a stained glass window from the old brewery building, taken by The BBG.

Sapporo Biergarten

The restaurant attached to the Sapporo Beer Museum, where you can eat jingisukan (pronounced like Genghis Khan - it's Mongolian barbecued lamb) and drink their not-quite-as-good-as-Asahi beer. Picture 2 by The BBG.

The classic tourist photo from Sapporo. First one by me, second one by The BBG.

Views from the JR Tower Hotel

The first one's from our 30th floor room: the rest are from the 35th floor restaurant. The Belated Birthday Girl stars in the first photo and took the last.
