You have to admire a plant that can melt ice and snow to get up and out. They don't smell strongly like a skunk--they smell like something is off in the fridge. Just a bit off.
there's news from the swamp. this is skunk cabbage. I found it. took me a week and a lot of time in swamps. it stinks and it's beautiful. it melts the ice on its way up to the sun.
and one of them is dolly parton.
Today I was out all day photographing native plants. I did not find the elusive skunk cabbage, but I found lots of other things. I hope the giant slab is a bee house. it had holes in the bottom for ventilation.
I am out tramping around looking for a plant called skunk cabbage because it has this amazing ability to melt the snow. This snowsoul is miles from anywhere, and it took me a long time to walk along the road and figure out what it was.
and they are taking their sad carrot noses with them.
The angle of the sun has changed, and it's warmer. oh yes.
