I'm not in the least bit a soft toy or teddy bear person. My childhood teddy bear, a splendid jointed pink Steiff style bear is lost forever and this grieves DD terribly. She mourns the loss of Pinky even though she never met him. At least once a month she asks me about Pinky and her anguish is clear to see. On these days she will lend me one of her substantial menagerie of soft animals to take to bed with me. I can't offend her by refusing to have this malevolent sod watching over me while I sleep.....
