Book Thirteen.
Brookmyre seven. I'm halfway through the Brookmyres now. I very much enjoyed this one and was trying to work things out and second guess Zal through most of the second half. Yay for the huge "dot dot dot" at the end (for the second book in row!).
The Sacred Art of Stealing = (Arty clowns + Incompetent gangsters) x (Arty clowns + Gullible Glasca polis).
Today is, in a word, gorgeous.
Book Twelve.
Only my third ever Christie, and the first one i hadn't seen a TV adaptation of. ...I still figured out the clues and guessed the murderer. Not that i exclaimed my smugness out loud when it was revealed or anything... *cough*
I don't know if it's because i don't drive, or if it's because i'm, well, me, but all i can think when i see these signs is "Moustache!"
Book Eleven.
Brookmyre Six. Definitely one of the best so far, but that doesn't mean that much when all of his books are so good. The chapter in the classroom, reading A Midsummer Night's Dream and the giant chalkboard cock, however, did just over take the first chapter of Quite Ugly One Morning as the best chapter ever.
A Big Boy Did it and Ran Away = ((Egotist + Gamer) ÷ Friendship) x (Terrorism ÷ (Kids + Angel X))
It amused me that a search of the tag 'silly' resulted in a page full of my photos. It also did not surprise me.
It was my birthday yesterday. After beating off demands from my boss to come in on my (birth)day off, i had a lovely day which included the following:
1. I had CAKE!
2 & 3. (Notso)BeardyMan got me tickets to see Laura Marling live.
4. He also got me BOXES of flapjacks. Nom.
5. AND a gorillapod!
6. All i actually asked for for my birthday was BOOKS. (And i have more to come at the weekend.)
7. I also bought myself another William Golding book from a charity shop.
YAY for birthdays. If anyone wants to know what age i turned, you will first have to GUESS!
Book Ten.
Still so chuffed i found this in a charity shop for 99p. It was very good. It's not an easy read; told from the POV of a group of Neanderthals for most of the book, the language is odd and intriguing. My new phrase when i don't understand something is "I do not see this picture".
