There have been two helicopters circling the city centre since about
11am this morning. Whirr Whirr Whirr. We had a little walk and the 200
or so EDL demonstrators have all been penned in by a circle of police
at City Square. Apparently there have only been 3 arrests so far for
minor disturbances. The atmosphere in Leeds at both protests when I was there felt
pretty sombre actually. The police presence is MASSIVE and officers have been
brought in from South, North and West Yorkshire. I hope there aren't
any burglaries going on elsewhere.
