Yes, yes people I have emerged from my self realised obscurity to bestow knowledge on all headz. Used ta be out and about now strictly lying low dispensing wisdom.
Too much going down to stay quiet, now all of us have to rise up and speak truth to power.

There has to be more to us than dhal roti and Nokia phones...

Muslims don't go shopping in High Wycombe...

(viewed 1778 times)
Check da scenario - brand new multi-million
shopping centre opening in HW. They calling it
EDEN (not sure how they come up wid these names!)
Now I go past the hoardings that have been all
over the town centre pretty much most days. What
has struck me on closer observation is that
there is not a single Asian or African-caribbean
face depicted on the main shopping boards and
in the mock ups hardly any black or brown faces.
No images of old Pakistani men wid beards and
women wid headscarfs. No young Caribbean youth
or elders doin' their shopping. This is not the
town I know - da town centre area and the out
lying areas have a massive non-white population.
Not that it's being represented in any way right
now. I think we'll have to make some
noise about this...

Rise Festival 2007

One of the Headliners Kellis - da girl can rock

Finally some sun

DAM - palestinian hip hop crew who got all
da skills and got da crowd bumping

Man like Ty. Made some announcements from
the Underground stage as it was kickin' off
behind us. Highlight was him and Rawkus
spitting bars from 'Let it Go'. Top top tune
and so relevant on da day as there was trouble
brewin' - love hiphop but sadily it brings with
it a nutty crowd sometimes...

Ty on da decks.

Boys in Blue - thought this was a bit overkill
and though there had been a few incidents see
above, none of this warranted this level of policing.

Rise Festival 2007

Big crowds on the day despite da early rain

Soon as we got there and Jamelia started
playin' we got a downpour.

Mela stage with da Angel Dancers. What I love 'bout
RISE and festivals like this is da many different
stages and sounds. Me and my lad listened to dub,
bhangra, North African electro, latin and hiphop all

DuOud - these guys were amazing, mixing trad
north African sounds with rock and dub basslines.

Bit more sun. Top day and good to get to a
festival this Summer. Brought back da memories of
Brockwell & Plashet park festivals I used to go to
and even compered one Summer.
