Day 2 of the race

(viewed 1094 times)
Today begun with an early start and due to our late
finish last night and early start today
Ian and I decided not to drive into Le Mans today (its
nearly two hours each way and doing that drive tired
is a really bad idea) but to let some of the other
guys who hadn?t driven yesterday chauffer us. Having
said that about 20 minutes into the drive I found
myself waking up a bit more, and remembering last
nights drive I started to regret leaving the Daytona
back at base.
To be quite honest we really didn?t get to see much of
the race as it was simply to hot (36DegC) to be
standing outside so instead we had a bit of breakfast
then wandered around parts of the track and the
various stalls and then went and sat in the shade and
had a few beers.
Just walking through the car parks at Le Mans is like
walking through car heaven there is basically
everything you could ever dream of so here are a
couple of snaps to keep you going.

Yesterdays upload (Sorry couldnt get it to upload at 2.30am when we got in and left the house again at 7am)

Damn its been hot today. Following some general
maintenance on the cars this morning we headed out for
lunch at one of the local bars and then went on to a
local carting circuit to race around like looneys (no
different to the rest of the week!). Later in the
afternoon we drove down to Le Mans and watached some
of the racing
(bloody hell its loud) and wandered around parts of
the circuit. Simply put pictures just dont do it
justice but I have taken a few snaps anyway. Driving
the daytona normally attracts alot of attention but at
Le Mans you start to feel like a film star, that is
until you get out and all of the cameras stay focussed
on the car and not you. As the group had seperated
our long journey home only had ourselves and Stuarts
race prepared Subaru in convey, that is until Petes
TVR T350t and Trevors Porsche Boxster
came thundering up out of the dark and as they knew
the way home (we were relying on Ians map reading!!)
they pulled in front and set the pace home. This has
to be one of the highlights of the trip, flying
through nearly deserted French country roads letting
the daytona (and me)have some real fun. I had always
thought that a big american muscle car would struggle
keeping up with the likes of Porches and TVRs through
twisting country roads but this certainly isnt
the case with the Daytona.___________________________________________________________
