Sunny afternoon

Well, despite some people not to far away having rain this afternoon we had sunshine and blue skies until rain set in this evening. It was good to get on the beach, though, and dip my toes in the water.

By the way, when we win the lottery I'm going to buy one of those white houses in the third shot.

That time of year

(viewed 660 times)
Every year, for the last dozen or so years, TheOtherHalf and the kids go off in our caravan for a week to a church conference at the Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet. I'm not religious myself so I opt out. So amyway this afternoon I took them over to Shepton Mallet, set up the caravan and then headed for home late this evening. A friend came in to feed the dog and take him for his evening walk. He was very excited to see me when I got back. So for the next week it's just me and the dog.

Let's hope there's not too much rain over the next week. Bath & West Showground is not a good place to be when it's wet.

Second shot - sun going down over the Showground.

Naughty dog

(viewed 2786 times)
Tim is usually nervous of other dogs but he is quite fond of chocolate labradors. Unfortunately this fondness is sometimes expressed in trying to chase them - even if they don't want to be chased. So this evening on the beach he went into chase mode with this particular labrador and her owner was getting quite worked up about it and yelling at me to get hold of him. Well, have you ever tried grabbing hold of a sprinting greyhound? So what did I do? Take photos of course!

Unfortunately the light wasn't bright enough to get sharp shots, even with the flash, so the top one is a bit blurry but you get the idea that he was having a lot of fun.

I think the lady with the labrador was getting a bit worried because he was running at speed at her too and it is a bit disconcerting when a greyhound runs straight at you full tilt. The thing to remember is just to keep still and the dog always veer off at the last minute (hopefully).

Anyway, he did stop eventually and I was able to grab hold of him and put him on the lead.

And if she ever reads this I apologise if I didn't seem too concerned but even though he was getting quite excited I knew he wouldn't cause any harm to you or your dog.

Shot no 2: cheeky grin.

No 3: The Boating Lake on the way home (no Photoshopping on this one - that's just how it was).

Sunset beach

It poured down with rain all day today. Until it was time to take the dog for his evening walk and the rain stopped and we actually saw some sun.

Reluctant

1) Tim outside our house when he realised we were heading for the beach.
2) Negotiating steps down to the beach.
3) As usual happy when he got there.
4) Brooding sky.
5) More brooding sky over the Old Harbour on the way home.
