... but it ended in a disaster.
Around 10pm, one hell of a thunderstorm broke loose (the worst Bavaria has seen in about 10 years), and soon it started POURING down... At first, we tried to find some cover, but to no avail. So then we decided to run for the car.. I couldn't see because of the heavy rain and my glasses fogging up, but all of a sudden I noticed a bunch of ambulances and a fire truck (I think) almost blocking off the entire way.. So we made our way past it and ran for the car (Ever tried running down a steep slope in the pouring rain, almost unable to see and having just drunk 2 liters of beer? Yeah.).. Eventually, we got to someone's garage and Markus and I waited there while Ernst ran to get his car.
While we were waiting, I got a call from my Mum, which was odd because my Mum is a nurse, and she was working nightshift in the x-ray ward, i.e. she was not really allowed to have her cellphone on... She was frantic, wanted to know if we were alright, telling me that a tree had collapsed in the storm and a branch had hit a bunch of people, killing at least one person and injuring several severely, and they were about to get lots of people in for treatment.
Then Ernst picked us up and we went to Markus's. Called a bunch of people (rumors were going WILD), made sure everyone was ok.
As for official news, it's been reported that a 43 y/o man was killed, and a 15 y/o girl is likely to remain partially paralyzed. :( This morning, the city council decided not to call off the rest of the fest.
