Went for a Beer and a meal in Versailles. First to "O'Paris" an proper pub
that looks out onto the Versailles Chateau. More Irish in feel than the
chains of Irish pubs that are scattered in the UK, it even sells Kilkenny in
Pints..., not bad for a Metric country. Is full of students but that just
seemed to made it lively and there is a strong international mix of people.
In the summer I'm told you can sit out front and take in the chateau. Then
went on to a Asiatic Restaurant just off the Place du Marche. Eaten there a
few times and they do Japanese or Cantonese or Thai three course menus for
about 20 euro. Really nice. The strange puffy thing is Chinese Brioche which
was really, really nice and a change from rice.

The company I'm working in is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Comite
d'Establishment (better know as the CE (Pronounced "See euh")) . They've got
a large tent up in the car park (that's take 40 spaces!) and they're putting
acts on all this week. On Wednesday there was a French Speaking Welshman
that had all the audience singing & counting in Welsh! His name is Jim
Howard and he was really great. That's him on the right.

Funny thing to see in Birmingham, especially right hand drive! What
beautiful lines. So 50s Americana.

Popped back to Birmingham and saw Statetrooper at the Rock Cafe 2000. My old
mate was running the sound desk and has been managing their tour. Great
sound, fabulous close harmony guitar riffs. The guys are really talented
musicians and it was a great night. The drummer was a stand-in as the
regular band member is currently touring with The Sweet. Their the most down
to earth, friendly & welcoming rock band I've met and I've met a few, thanks
to my mate running a rock record label for a while.
