Tim's Travelling Adventures

by Penfold

Well, this started out as a way that my wife could follow my lone progress in my little sports car from Birmingham UK to Orkney.

Been there, done that 2 day there, 13hour return trip.

So now follow me: an Englishman representing Americans and based in a French office near Paris. With an appartment in Versailles and trips back to the UK anything can happen and, frankly, I've no idea where this will lead!

Le Pouligen

(viewed 669 times)
We've come away for the weekend to La Baule and the weather is intermittent.
It is raining at the moment, but has been great. These are pictures of Le
Pouligen this morning.

Sharon's flight due 19:30, expected 22:20. Not a happy puppy.

Orleans 5

(viewed 508 times)
Orleans is on the Loire River. It is a nice place and I know I didn't make
the most of it. Don't think I'd rush to go back as I prefer Strasbourg or
even Nantes.

Orleans 4

Nice mix of modern and ancient. Shame everything is shut (bank holiday in
French Holiday season is like being in a ghost town). I was lucky that there
was a restaurant open!

Orleans

Ok, so Orleans is a bit like Strasbourg: Cathedral, nice squares, smart
tram, small streets. Not bad, but I prefer Strasbourg. Oh, and this
technology is constantly surprising me. I'm a gadget junkie, ok I'll admit
it. I just like toys. But when I sit in a nice sunny square, looking out at
the statue and the old buildings, waiting for my bowl of mussels cooked in
Leff (Belgian beer) and I fire up my laptop to find there are SEVEN
available WIFI networks, I can't help but be impressed. No video calling
today, but MS Messengering friends in these surroundings is just weird.

Orleans 2

All that way there and what's the first thing I see? Those Irish are like
sand in a swimsuit - they get everywhere.

Orleans

(viewed 537 times)
Monday was a Public Holiday here, so no work. So I did my Laundry (pretty
dull) and then drove to Orleans. It's about an hour and 10 from Paris.
