Working locally has some surprises

(viewed 571 times)
I keep stumbling across The Ancestors in photographic archives when researching stuff for local history exhibitions! There's my mum skating, my grandad looking sulky, and my great-grandad looking dapper.

Some Ikea details

(viewed 634 times)
I went to Ikea last night with the express intention of purchasing unecessary items. I did fairly well, buying faeire lights, picture frames, purple flowers and scissors. One could argue that faerie lights ARE a necessity, but I felt they were frivolous enough to justify the trip. The scissors were quite practical though. Still, it's an improvement on the last time I went for this reason, when I bought a doormat and my sister-in-law got a washing up brush. We were useless.

Now. Do we look like:

a) a girl band
or
b) just really, really drunk?

New crimpers...check
Hair looking like Sideshow Bob...check
Pixie boots, lace ra ra, lots of jewellery...check
Final check in the mirror before leaving the house, followed by frantic phonecalls (ignored, thanks husband and Steph ;) ) because I got The Fear that my being told to "come down the local in 80s gear!" was actually just a joke...check
All ok in the end though :) *sigh of relief*

Walsall Nights

(viewed 539 times)
In between bars, I'm told KFC seems like a good option. Not for me of course, I'd had a vegetarian moussaka at work before meeting these reprobates. It was at this stage in the evening that Rob instigated the amalgamation game of unlikely musicians. Cliffhead, Simon and Articgarfmunkles, Ike and Libertina Turner...you get the idea...Hours of fun ended in Rob pouring red wine all over my beige living room carpet. It's ok mate, we've just spent our entire Sunday vaxing it, you can hardly tell now ;)
