I am the stone that the builder refused
I am the visual, the inspiration
that made lady sing the blues
I am the spark that makes your idea bright
the same spark that lights the dark
so that you can know your left from your right
I am the ballot in your box, the bullet in the gun
the inner glow that lets you know to call your brother ’son’
the story that just begun, the promise of what’s to come
and I’m-a remain a soldier until the war is won

JetBlue terminal in JFK - headed home

(viewed 330 times)
Eventually I had to take my leave and head home. That night I made my way back to JFK to hop my JetBlue flight back to DC.

But wait....this wasn't here when I landed!

A better shot of the tree, fewer people around.

The tree at Rockefeller Center

Of course, no trip to Rockfeller Center would be complete without seeing the big tree. It was beautiful, even in the daytime.

Rae drove past with me one night prior when we drove around Grand Central, and it's gorgeous at night, too.

Rockefeller Center skaters 2

(viewed 395 times)
I realized I don't even know how to ice skate. When my friend (and local guide) Alms asked if I could roller skate, since they're similar, my only response was a nervous laugh and "not well."

Still, I was glad to leave it to the folks skating. It was worth seeing.

Rockefeller Center skaters

One of the things I insisted on doing was seeing Rockefeller Center and the ice skaters. My last day in town was cold and windy as all getout, but we snagged a cab over after dropping off our friend Dia at her bus at Penn Station.

I was not disappointed. It was amazing. Lots of people though.

Conquering the NY Subway 2

I do like the "upcoming stops" sign they have up there though. Helped me gauge when I'd be getting off.

Conquering the NY subway at 2am

Clearly I didn't look like enough of an out-of-towner to draw suspicion. I like that. The subway ride home had crazy people, but it's nothing I'm not used to from the DC Metro.

The previous night...

I went over to my dear Rae's house for chicken and waffles and other hijinks. It was a lovely time, and I miss everyone already. We even played Rockband, my first time ever.

And she'll never admit it, but Rae kicks ass at Rockband. I mean, the woman KILLS at the game.
