Face Off - N82 vs. N95 8GB

(viewed 7345 times)
Ok, so it's upgrade time again and due to Sony Ericsson's continued crapness on the video front I'm going back to Nokia for the time being.

I had my heart set on the N95 8GB, until Orange put a spanner in the works and told me they have 3,500 sitting in a warehouse have failed a 'data test', and they can't tell me when it will be in stock again.

Someone I spoke to suggested the Nokia N82 as it's virtually the same as the N95 8GB (5MP, 640x480 video, wi-fi,GPS, yada yada), apart from being a 'candybar' shape as opposed to a 'slider' (something I'm not against having experience the N80 slider).

I did a load of research and it appears to be very similar indeed.

The N95 has a bigger & brighter screen, with 8GB memory on board, but the N82 has a Xenon flash (as opposed to LED on N95), and can take memory cards, so I could put 8GB+ in it if I wanted to (which I do). The N82 is also a lot less chunky than the N95.

Apart from these small differences, there's not much between them. One Orange customer service person told me that they'd personally switched from the N95 8GB to the N82 because of problems with the N95 software and that Orange had seen a lot of N95s returned (and evidently currently have a major problem with them)!

So, the questions is - what do you mobloggers think? Anyone got an N82?
