James and the giant chocolate factory

(viewed 2218 times)
I've get really disappointed with Cadbury's Whole Nut chocolate bars. The last one I got had maybe 10 nuts in the whole huge bar.

This is the first recipe I ever made.

I was 7-8 years old and I made it from my brother's Scout book. I'm suprised my mum let me make this by myself. I remember taking some to school the next day for film club, my best friend at the time loved them and referred to them for years afterwards.

Chocolate melted
Salted peanuts with the salt washed off

The peanuts are fried for a minute in the butter then added to the melted chocolate.

Spread out on to grease proof paper and cool in the fridge.

Break up into small pieces and eat.

Chicken thighs, wine wine, wild rice

(viewed 2175 times)
I have to admit that when i made this I couldnt face eating it. I nearly threw it away. Luckily i kept it in the fridge and now I am amazed at how good this is.

Feeds 4, or me for a couple of days.

Heavily seasoned pack of chicken thighs
Red onion
5 Spring onion
2 big chillies
4 crushed garlics
Half bottle cheapish white wine
teaspoon mustard seeds
Bay leaf
200g of mix rice with the black wild one
Chopped parsley

Brown chicken in olive oil in large pan with good few gulps of olive oil.

Add red onion, then corguette, spring onion, red chilli & mustard seeds, then finally the garlic, over a 2 mins period each.

Add the wine and the bayleaf, and probably a couple of cups of water. A bit of concentrate of chicken stock is good here too.

Simmer for 20 odd minutes.

Add the rice. Stir every 5 minutes. The rice is going to soak up all the moisture. If you need to add more wine and water then do so. Its going to stick a bit but keep on stirring every 5 mins.

Finally when most of the liquid is soaked and the rice is cooked, add the chopped parsley.

Eat some hot or Leave in fridge to cool and eat constantly.

Last bit of the open ham sandwiche

(viewed 1470 times)
I'm watching the South Bank Show on Sophie Calle.

Seriously why are they not offering the whole archive of the South Bank Show free for download on the Internet Archive? Like this:

i bet the programs are all so much better in retrospect.

I'd still love to see the smiths one.

Cheese burger

(viewed 771 times)
Theres loads and loads of gourmet burger bars opened in london over the past year or so.

Because it is so hard to make a burger?

The best burgers you'll ever make are the ones you make yourself - taking all of 8 minutes from starting to eating.

In my rules of restaurant dining:

1. never order a burger
2. dont get the chicken
3. the bread will tell you everything about the restaurant

(this list is definitely to be continued)

Seasoned 100% mince beef shaped into a burger
Roquefort cheese
In a cheese topped bab

Served with M&S;'s 3 bean salad.
