Again in Llanber, this is the pool people come to dive, it's called Vivian Quarry and is sixty feet in depth. The site was formed as a direct result of the mining in the area, due to the excavation of the slate. This was at one point the largest quarry in the world. Slate from here is what's keeping Mr Blair's' attic free from rain in Downing Street.

What can't be seen in the picture is the mesmarisingly eerie turquoise colour of the water.

Worth a visit if you're in the area!

Pictures from Llanberis in North Wales.

The castle is Dolbadarn Castle which dates back to the 13th century
and was built by the (mighty) Welsh (unlike many of the other castles
in the area). If you look at the mountains in the background kindly
draw your eyes to the red circle, you may be able to make out the face
of a woman, similar to the face of the queen on a stamp. The picture
does not do justice to how clear the face is, i'll take another pic
when the sun is shinning on that side of the mountain, and then i'll
post again!

EDIT- just noticed how much smaller the picture comes out on here as compared to my pc! It makes it nearly impossible to make out the castle, let alone the woman on the mountain! Sori!
