The Haunted Hotel

We found ourselves a very nice hotel to stay in on Monday (apparently haunted- we only saw a dog...). We spent the night sitting in the hot tub and watching the night sky. Even though it was very very cold and clear we didn't see any northern lights but the forecast had been bad anyway...

Gullfoss

Kiki nearly fell into Gullfoss. Julian nearly broke his leg. The way to the viewing platform was an absolute nightmare as it was downhill and completely icy. It took us ages and parts of it had to be travelled on our bums.

Around Stokkur

Did I mention that it was bloody freezing at Stokkur? Fortunately we found a place with hot chocolate, free refills, Beatles music and viking toys.

Stokkur in Action.

Stokkur- the most reliable geyser in the world!

It was incredibly cold and windy at Stokkur- we stayed for a few outbreaks (about every 4 minutes) though. Very impressive.

Þingvellir National Park.

Our first stop on our Golden Circle Tour was the Þingvellir National Park where the Islandic parliament was established in 930 and remained there until 1789. Þingvellir is the site of a rift valley and home to Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland. Julian accidentally stepped into a river which was fun to watch. We also dioscovered something that we called the "Urinacle".

Renting a Car on Monday.

As the weather forecast was quite promising we rented a car to explore the island.

Sunday

After a great party on Saturday the Sunday was quite relaxed. We hung out in town, had loads of hot chocolate, found art, checked out shoes and saw an amaaazing men's rock choir from a small Icelandic village. At midnight we fell into bed.
