I forgot to post this photo a couple of weeks ago...
Janice on the Stockton ferry, looking out to Newcastle on a lovely sunny day.
This time, Nodda looks on.
Stan is putting together a bike that Alan got for her 8th birthday.
Patus, wearing a mankini, looks on.
Patus entertains a Ted in Nodda's backyard.
Watching a presentation about Second Life.
The panelists had each completed a project, where they had focused on one piece of technology.
From left to right, the technologies and their uses were:
- Moodle (just like the LWB Learnscope site): as an improvement over Yahoo Groups (email distribution list), which had a lot of ads
- tablet PC to deliver primary industries training in the field; the tablet allows you to 'draw' on documents. For instance, open a photo on the tablet, give the student the 'pen' and ask them to circle the parts of the feedlot and any OHS hazards
- Second Life: exploring the virtual world and the possibilities of using the platform for VET simulations, particularly in high risk situations, such as childcare
- digital camera for environmental science and biology: after two weeks, we remember 0% of what we hear, and 30% of what we see; teachers and students using digital cameras in the field; and obvious, but powerful, match.
The ceiling of the aptly named Roundhouse, resplendent with disco ball. This is where the workshops and speakers were accommodated for eLearning07.
Jock mentioned casually that he had seen The Saints play there. Crazy, rockin', sweaty times in The Roundhouse.
