Thanks to Sprint, this is the most service I've had since Tuesday night. Let's chain post my pics while it lasts, or my meatloaf arrives.

Get on the Bus

(viewed 354 times)
So, around this time yesterday, the neighbothood was something out of ALAS BABYLON. Three trips on a fire engine later, we're on a city bus to the refugee center. Made a few stops in town to pick up more survivors, but none of the people dispatch said would be there were there. Creepy. So, we get on the highway, finally cleared, and it was surreal -- the authorities said only servive and rescue vehicles were allowed on the road, and the major highways in/out of town wereflood-damaged. The cleanup crews must have worked around the clock, since the road was clean and clear. The closer to the refugee center, the more passenger cars were on the road. The last two miles of the bus trip could have been any other day on a city bus.PS. That house seen floating semi-intact down the Susquehanna river? The one that was filmed and the footage shown on the national and some international news? That was a distant neighbor -- the gas explosion that took the house off its foundation was so forceful we felt it a mile or so away. Sounded like a strong man punching all the windows at once.

You didn't really think I would leave my lil chickens behind, did you?

The firemen didn't mention you could bring pets for this EVAC until we reached the bus. I took the next truck back into the shit and snagged my kitty and my toothbrush. Here, we're waiting for the bus to leave.
