one big fucking storm cloud

(viewed 409 times)
[Still the 6th] We were a little paranoid about
reflooding, after semi-regular rumors -- sometimes
passed along by high-ranking county officials and
Nat'l Guardsmen in charge -- that dams/levies upriver
had been breached/allowed to relieve their pressure by
dumping enough water to reflood our area. The
thunderstorms didn't help matters. This is the same
storm cloud, photographed about 20 miles apart.

the day's haul and a lobby banner

(viewed 374 times)
[Still the 6th]The local Presbyterian church was
amazing, doing supply and food/water deliveries and
even picking up and hauling away debris. Like little
garbage elves, the shitheap we left when the cops and
National Guard enforced curfew would be gone when we
returned the next day.

The banner caught my eye while I was waiting in line
for a tetanus shot at the town hall earlier in the
day. I don't know what the fuck I got from that water,
but it went away a few days after getting the shot.

knees. ugly knees

(viewed 1318 times)
This may be the only thing I had to throw out that I
may regret; I bought this Bond greatest-hits
soundtrack at a Salvo a million years ago, just for
the cover. Specifically, the one model's knees, which
may be the ugliest pair I've ever seen. I understand
that once they've been pointed out, you can't not look
at them. They're almost hypnotic. Anyway, I thought I
should take some shots for history's sake.

dead records [july 6]

and turntable, which was in one of those massive,
waist-high stereos that used to be a staple of den
decor in the 70s. Mine was submerged so long that it
collapsed under its own weight when we tried to move
it away from what was a wall.

Feel the pain, assorted nerdlings [July sixth]

(viewed 364 times)
Another day, another moldering mound of 60s/70s
Marvel's mightiest magazines, true believers!

I was a music dork too -- the second shot is of what
remained of a box of boxed sets.

Weep, nerds, weep!

[Still the 5th] You know who you are. It would have
been far better to have eBayed my books and comics off
like I'd been working at for, sigh, years -- and it
would have been nice to get some recompense from the
government for my flood losses -- but really, I'm glad
to be free of the burden of the literal ton+ of crap I
didn't want and barely remember ever wanting.

Pro Dope [july 5]

(viewed 453 times)
Pipe Joint Compound! They knew what they were saying,
man. We had a good laugh about this in the corpse of
the basement, then I gave my arms a pretty good
chemical burn with bleach about ten minutes later.
Didn't my mother ever warn me what happens if you have
too much fun? No, she didn't.
