I make things on the web, mobile and in the actual world.

I've done lots of bits and bobs over the years, and right now I'm mostly working on this.

I enjoy speaking about things I like, most recently this. You can email me if you'd like, and I'm on twitter.

my first #sugru hack

(viewed 156 times)
It's not going to win any prizes for prettiness, you may agree, but for
pure functionality I'm going to throw it a party in honour of it's
tremendous success. I have a terrible sense of urban direction. Being in
London doesn't exactly help this. I also cycle a lot, and haven't been
able to find an off the rack holder for my HTC Hero that will attach to
my bike to let me use the device's satnav.

There are almost certainly more elegant solutions to this problem, but
it was one of the things I've had in my head to do since I ordered my
sugru.

The plastic is rigid yet flexible and is cut from the back of a box that
some business cards came in. The Velcro is actually from where I had
some blinds attached to the roof in my upstairs so when I pulled it off
it came on one side with bits of paint interspersed with rabidly sticky
sticky stuff.

You may notice that parts of the velcro are a dark brown. This, folks,
is DIRT! Yes, the wonders of dirt. To rid the velcro of it's insidious
stickiness I merely rubbed dirt into it, yielding this rugged and
craquelated look.

Fun, and handy.
