I make things on the web, mobile and in the actual world.

I've done lots of bits and bobs over the years, and right now I'm mostly working on this.

I enjoy speaking about things I like, most recently this. You can email me if you'd like, and I'm on twitter.

demonise the children

(viewed 754 times)
Im in a cab going to the BBC to do a voiceover for the one show and listening to radio 5. There was just a small piece on this current headline that 50 percent of us or something are now afraid of children, and that some children are little better than animals. I just find it amazing that were at the point that we can actively demonise children for the clear failures of their parents. As i was listening i looked up and saw this piece of banksys, it seems very apt somehow.

How to make news and influence people: Media and journalism in the network age

(viewed 1418 times)
In what promises to be a really interesting debate/event, Ill be talking about the recent 'What Is The Question' project in the company of far smarter thinkers than myself. It's free to register so if it looks like your cup of tea grab a ticket while they're still going.

"How do our actions lead to change in today's world? How has the internet transformed the media and the channels of influence on public opinion? And what kinds of news and photo-journalism are emerging to connect people with politics?

In October 2008 James Nachtwey, winner of the TED Prize 2007, unveiled a landmark body of work about XDR-TB – the culmination of his wish to 'break a story of global significance in new and innovative ways'.

An international coalition of partners, including Demos, helped TED and Nachtwey raise awareness about this little-known but deadly disease. The project was also a test case for how images and networks can inspire change in the age of the internet.

TED and Demos are delighted to host a salon of experts in the stunning new Kings Cross Hub to cast a critical eye over the campaign and discuss the new politics of images. What happened, what worked and what didn't? What have we learned and what has changed?

There will also be a presentation of James Nachtwey's new images and the TED Prize, an exhibition of Demos' Emergency Room experiment during the campaign, and drinks.

Please join us for what promises to be an un-missable event."
