Parnngurr is located 370 kilometres due east of Newman in Western Australia.

The community is located in the Great Sandy Desert at the southern end of Karlamilyi (Rudall River) National Park.

There are 150 or so permanent residents here, a shop, and one school.

Bernie attended one of my sessions last year which predominantly focussed on the use of SMS messaging with young people in an educational setting. bernie reckons that a number of the people she is working with will immediately take up this tech.

Student internet network is down - again - no optus coverage at all up here - my $500 Optus fone will prove useless in this environment GPRS wise however I could still be using the camera etc. functions out in the bush
