We couldn't interest Kevin McCloud in our barn conversion, so we went one better, a blog. You can follow our progress as we turn what was the kitchen of a medieval grange in south Devon into a home for a family of four. I will attempt to answer any questions, so write away!

Brian is up to his knees as the "garden" - or former pigsty to the south is dug up for drains. In front of him is a loo/shower room and on the right is a doorway.

Insulation is in on the first floor and the Veluxes are allowing plenty of light in, which is a relief. The hole on the right is for the staircase, plain oak style.

The roof is a beautiful creation and we are delighted with it. What a job - getting the lines right all the way down the huge fall from the ridge to the gutters. It's a wonderful thing.

Richard found three kittens and their mum making their home in the barns. Now we have a nesting duck and a family of cats. It's already getting quite overcrowded.

Richard and Wayne in the sun, reading The Sun. Much better atmos on site now that the sun is out and everyone can get out of their thick coats. The roof is going on and the boys can get to work on the first floor and interior. So everyone is happy.
