We couldn't interest Kevin McCloud in our barn conversion, so we went one better, a blog. You can follow our progress as we turn what was the kitchen of a medieval grange in south Devon into a home for a family of four. I will attempt to answer any questions, so write away!

surf's up

Bigbury is firing - but no-one out to enjoy it... Maybe something to do with the 100mph gusts over the weekend. You can just about make out the Thurlestone rock poking out of the waves on the top right corner.

moving on upstairs

(viewed 465 times)
The ceiling upstairs is painted - so are the ceilings in the bedrooms downstairs. The walls are nearly limewashed and the other walls are plastered. It's nearly all there, apart from the electrics and the floor. We mulled for ages about what floor and went for engineered oak - it won't flex with the underfloor heating. It should look good and I think we got a good deal from Jewsons at about £36 a sq m. The nicest thing upstairs here is a very sexy curve in the wall on the left hand side - not readily apparent in this photo, but looks great in the flesh. Nice one Wayne!
