Wolfmother are a band from Sydney Australia who have recently started moblogging with us.

They are running a great competition asking people to record a video inspired by their latest single 'Woman'.

The winner will get a pair of VIP tickets to Reading Festival, and the best videos actually get edited together into a brand new video for the Woman track to be run exclusively through Kerrang!.

You can check out the current video for the song 'Woman', and enter your own, on The wolfmother Moblog.

Site Updates!

The first big site upgrade of 2006 is here! We've made some improvements to the user experience, added some fantastic new features and upgraded existing ones.

Getting ahead in advertising

We've listened to what you had to say on advertising, and we've changed the way it works.

Adverts will no longer be shown on subscriber's moblogs, regardless of who is looking at them. moblogUK pages won't display adverts to subscribers, as is the case already. Free moblogs will display adverts to anyone who looks at them, and some pages will feature an extra advertising slot.

We hope this arrangement will work better for everyone. We will continue to monitor the situation, and we welcome suggestions or comments in the forum.

New and improved

We really wanted to give something back to our subscribers this time so we've raised the maximum message size (3Mb!) and created some cool new features.

New!

Graphical friends lists for subscribers (thanks to Angel for inspiration).

Who's watching me lists for free accounts.

Extra high quality image resizing for subscribers and improved basic quality for free accounts.

EXIF information, such as the time an image was taken and the model of the phone used, is now preserved in subscribers images.

Latest image link and basic comment tracker now available to free accounts.

Get an email update if someone adds you to their friends list.

Improved!

Message size limit raised to 3Mb for subscribers.

Profile page updated and enhanced.

Adverts removed from subscriber's moblogs and the front page.

Very long friends lists no longer break pages — get more friends!

Subscriber's friends page streamlined, comment tracker extended.

Latest news a bit more visible!

Not so great!

The Southern Sunset and Plastik themes have been removed from the site — the new changes just wouldn't fit. Users who had selected these themes have been reset to the default, our apologies for any inconvenience.

Join the fun

It's now (slightly) easier to get moblogging and (much) easier to upgrade your account and become a subscriber.

We've added the create a moblog link to the site navigation. That's just the start, we'll be doing much more to help new users get on board.

And for those of you who haven't subscribed yet, we've made it easier to upgrade as well. You can now create longer-term subscriptions of 6 and 12 months and have the option to subscribe without needing a Paypal account. We've created a nice upgrade page that explains all the great stuff you get

We hope that you will continue to enjoy the site and the community. We'll be adding many more new features and enhancements during the rest of 2006 to make moblogUK even better. Your comments and suggestions are always appreciated. If you have ideas please post them in the forum.

Until next time, happy moblogging.

Happy Birthday To Us!

come to our birthday party on feb 10th..

MoblogUK is celebrating our 2nd (and a bit) birthday this February, and we would love for you to come along and help us do that. The party will be on the 10th of February at the bar/restaurant Cantaloupe in Old Street, London.

Cantaloupe serve a huge range of European beers, and the food is great (snacks will be provided), so there is something for everyone. We love prizes and presents, so there will be a raffle on the night with prizes sponsored by Warp Records, Digital Camera Magazine (tbc), www.iwantoneofthose.com, Nokia, Mute Records, Sony Ericsson and more! If you can't make it on the night, you can still take part, by buying raffle tickets from our online shop.

There is a forum post about the birthday party here for more information.

We can't wait to see you all there, or joining the party online..

Site changes on the way

Google Adsense adverts are going to be launched on the site from January 9th. They will appear on the the home page, the search page, personal blogs, shared blogs, this page and the phone reviews pages. We hope these ads are going to generate revenue to fund ongoing development of moblogUK. We're intending to incorporate many 'site suggestions' from the forums and launch many new features throughout 2006.

Subscribers won't see any ads at all (when they are logged in). If you don't want to see ads, and get all the other benefits of being a subscriber, you can subscribe here.

If you want to help Moblog grow, you could write a review of your camera phone. Is your cameraphone in this list? If it's not, get in touch and we'll set up a review moblog for you to post sample images and video too, along with your own comprehensive review of your handset.

As always, please keep sending us your site suggestions and ideas via email and the forum and may we take this opportunity to extend a big THANKYOU to all of you for supporting us over the last two years.

Competition Results!

Now closed - The Soundtrack to Your Life Competition - this one was very hard to judge, as all our competitions have been, but the judges finally settled on Afternoon's huge four-part entry, Sounds Of The Afternoon. While most entries had some fantastic imagery, we felt that the dedication shown to create this well-crafted essay on music was enough to just take the top spot.

Congratulations to Afternoon, and many thanks to everyone who entered - as usual, we wish we had a prize for everyone!
