1.2Kg of raspberries - there's at least three more kilo+ harvests coming over the next couple of weeks too. Our raspberry canes PRODUCE.

HORSERADISH! Strong enough to make my eyes water just when I was peeling it. I dread to think how hot any sauce will be.

Is Horseradish something like ginger?

mat says:

horseradish is same family as mustard and wasabi

I've made two jars of straight horseradish sauce and three of horseradish and cider mustard.

and how much effort did I put in?

almost none

Trimmed back the raspberry canes in winter 2007 so they grew big for now, and dug up the horseradish today after ignoring it all year.

hooray for lazy gardening!

Well done on the raspberries, ours are pathetic, what does come gets eaten by the birds before we get a chance.
Love the sound of that Horseradish sauce!

my freind's mom does excellent stuff with horseraddish mixing it with tomato & garlic. that's kind of special recipe from my homeland. I've tried to find something like that in moscow without success.

I done put my recipe up on that foodie site that Mr Archer does

Stella, that sounds delicious, I'd love to hear the recipe. I'm a big fan of horseradish.

FF - no idea, to be honest. Ours was starting to die back in the leaf area, so I just dug a bit and found loads of root. I have a feeling this is second year growth, I'm not sure. I know it's pretty robust once it's going, so it probably won't mind much if you're a bit early.
