I'm a mobile and web busybody, blogger and mobile commentator type person.

I've created with friends three main websites which centre on community and the evolving use of mobile technologies, Moblog, We're not afraid and Stopped Clocks.

I set up Moblog with Mat Brown, and in 2006 the Moblog team was joined by Jonathan Allen,Ben Godfrey, and Lori Fischler. We also license mobile blogging technologies. A version of our moblogging platform powers UK broadcaster Channel 4's The Big Art Mob, and Strange Cargo's Other Peoples Photographs Too

Contact us about mobile blogging stuff, we're lovely to work with.

I enjoy speaking on the areas I'm interested in, and have presented or been a panel member at many conferences and debates around the areas I'm focused on, so get in touch if you'd like me to come to an event or conference you are organising.

I'm really very surprised London got it.

Helen says:

daz says:

... And that's a good thing? :)

Prices for... oh, everything skyrocketing, traffic jams everywhere (even worse than usual). tons of foreigners everywhere? ;)

mat says:

I think people living outside London will be very pleased. Everyone I know in London was totally against it.

I'm quite chuffed, tbh.

mat says:

Christ, don't say that. Otherwise I'll work out how old I'll be. That won't be good.

6th Jul 2005, 12:53 | edit | delete

mat says:

actually, I can't remember how old I am now, so that's that plan scuppered.

Helen says:

I would have been willing to go to Paris.

But, I would really like to see this boy (the-boy-from-next-door) get a gold, at the Olympics, in the UK.

And now that might happen.

6th Jul 2005, 12:55

Helen says:

Hmmm it is a long way away. I might even be in London then. Or dead.

6th Jul 2005, 12:59

Joe says:

I've forgotten how old I am as well....cool.

I'm astonished that we got it, especially with our current political status in the rest of europe.

6th Jul 2005, 13:05

aidan says:

eh, you're all too cynical. there were loads of people in Stratford celebrating just now. It's going to be really good for the east of London

6th Jul 2005, 13:07

daz says:

Joe: I'll gladly remind you of how old you are. :)

6th Jul 2005, 13:08

Joe says:

20 something (can't remember how many) years of living in this country has made me cynical...but they have 6 years to change my mind.

Daz: leave it you young whippersnapper, you should respect your elders, at least I think I'm older than you....

6th Jul 2005, 13:11

kostika says:

You're only 6 months older than me Joe.

And I was born cynical. :o)

Helen says:

Nope, sums up London quite nicely really.

Lyzardly says:

I lived in Salt Lake City when the 2002 Olympics came to town.

The entirety of the Olympic Security staff, including all sorts of specialty police forces, ended up housed across the street from my house. So I left town for three weeks.

Those that stayed mostly enjoyed themselves. Those who were able to work for two or three weeks made at least $5,000 each. And they all got very nice parkas.

It forced Salt Lake to begin developing public transit beyond one bus ever y hour and to allow restaurants and bars to advertise that they have liquor licenses. For the length of the Olympics, beer kegs were legal as was beer with more than 3.2% alcohol.

My friend's father was very disappointed that Jesus didn't descend from heaven for the second coming during the closing ceremonies though.

6th Jul 2005, 13:37

Helen says:

Maybe he'll make it to London?

6th Jul 2005, 13:42

=^.^= says:

I'm just glad that "No virus found in this outgoing message."

6th Jul 2005, 14:14

bronxelf says:

YES!!! It's NOT NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*happydances*

6th Jul 2005, 16:13

Hmmm, apparently this means there'll be a GB footie team entering, or so I read a few weeks ago.

I just hope it doen't end up like Greece where the massive stadium they've built has only been used 4 times since the games.

Also, the London logo is kinda crappy eh?

6th Jul 2005, 17:06

Helen says:

But did you see the others?

6th Jul 2005, 17:07

Very true. They all need better logo designers dammit.

6th Jul 2005, 17:47

bronxelf says:

It's sad that the crappy NYC logo is the best one.

(personally I like my modifications better. The spray can and the guy giving the finger seem much more realistic.)

6th Jul 2005, 17:50

teflon says:

Aren't those logos just the bid logos, and they unveil a new one nearer the time?

Wonder how long it'll take for the 'back the bid' decals to be replaced?

6th Jul 2005, 18:02

slinka says:

Expect a lot of guests. ;)
