Little visitor on the porch

(viewed 869 times)
We get these little visitors all summer here. Each year we spend a few
weeks having to wreck their webs when they insist on building them
across the entrance to the porch - the only way into the house - but
then they get the idea and build along the rails instead. Lovely wee thing.

Just trying to get the theme the way I want it...

Header image, based on the original "Clean Colours" theme image.....

ETA 06/15: Caine, how's this font, better? Easier to see? Once I shut off the font override I noticed the smallness of the previous font.

ETA: Heh. And it *worked*. Totally mad props to Joe_Archer for answering my question on the forum, and mat for recommending the Web Developer Firefox extension. And to Nicolas Fantino (ala_747), whoever you are, for the original Clean Colours CSS.

No ringing today:(

I'm hoping this means they had a very busy morning (quite likely at a
vet's office with Saturday hours) and just didn't have time to confer
and come to a final decision. Or, perhaps he decided to wait until next
week when the other vet is in also and make it a group decision. I hope.

Nervous face, happy face

(viewed 1851 times)
The one with the shades is pre-interview, that's me nervous. The
interview went fantastic and I have a very good feeling about it - and I
want this job. It's at a vet hospital that is brand new, state of the
art, and the commute and hours kick total ass as far as fitting into my
life. The pic without shades is me after - I look tired, I hope I
didn't come off too tired. This sinus infection is kicking my ass, but
I was so not skipping this interview. I'm home now in yogawear for
comfy and not going anywhere until Monday! Oh, and thanks SO MUCH to
puddlepuff for the e-mail this morning, it made my day :-)

Well, I though it was a cold....

Guess that's what I get for thinking. Went to the ENT today and he took
a look and promptly diagnosed a raging antibiotic-resistant sinus
infection. Yeah. Less than a month after sinus surgery. I highly
DON'T recommend it as a party trick, folks. Getting your sinuses
vacuumed out, not so much with the fun. Looking through the microscope
and seeing the bacteria was interesting, though, but an experience I'd
have happily given up to not be in this much pain...most of the time,
it's a dull ache......but then once in a while the left ethmoid blocks
and it's like someone just ice picked me in the eyebrow. Oh, and bonus
crap - the antibiotics, neat little side effect - can cause vision
problems for 2 to 3 hours after you take them. And I have a job
interview Friday, so I have to take them at night to avoid that - so I
get to look forward to getting out of bed 3 - 5 times a night to use the
bathroom because of the other likely side effects of a GI nature. You
know, looking back at the last month, I'm agreeing with yourhermione
here - lets fire the universe and start over.

Hens & chicks & thanks

(viewed 759 times)
At the end of a very long, very sad & somewhat miserable-weathered week,
this is a thank you to everyone here at MBUK who send words of support
and encouragement, put up with me babbling in your blogs in an effort to
distract myself, and kept me entertained :-) These little plants are
called Hens & Chicks, I've been told, and we planted a bunch of them up
the Museum last year because they are pretty tough little buggers and
can survive the rotten New England weather, but are pretty and
interesting.

The band says "Forever In My Heart"

(viewed 711 times)
Ray will be. The band is from a support group for parents who have lost
children. My friends have already joined.

Oh, and f*ck cancer. Preferably with a rusty ice auger.

Euphro-inspired flowers

(viewed 948 times)
Inspired by Euphro's daisy fields shots, here are a few more of the
photos I took last weekend at the Museum - you find big patches of these
little ground flowers all over the place up there where the grass is
hard to mow - like these are between some siding rails. Eventually
someone will get in there with a weed whacker and take the grass down so
I was glad I got these shots before that happened.
