Boscombe Sovereign Centre and Bus Station

(viewed 2758 times)
This new Bus Station and indoor Sovereign shopping centre was built a few years ago, maybe 5 years or more?

The clock worked for a while, then stopped. Not sure who owns the Sovereign Centre and integral multi-story car park.

Shipley clock tower - stopped clock

(viewed 3842 times)
The clock on the Shipley (West Yorks) market tower hasn’t worked in years but I remember it well as a child. The clock has 4 sides and there was a metallic man that came out of the tower and hit the bell to create the hourly chimes – seems such a shame its not working properly anymore

Or are they trying to sell themselves as the bar where time stops still?

Heavitree Road stopped clock

This clock is above our local chippy in Exeter. Whenever it is put right and shows the right time the next time you look at it, it has stopped

Ventnor stopped clock

(viewed 1691 times)
This clock is the centre piece of Ventnor town but has not worked for years.
It is part of a privately owned building and as the town's Environment & Neighbourhoods Officer I have been in contact with the property owners trying to come to some agreement about how we can get it going again without having to trouble the occupants of the first floor accommodation in which the winding mechanism is housed.
I saw the piece on The One Show about 'stopped clocks' and thought that I would add it to the national list, in the hope that this would increase my chances of getting it going again!

Hi,

I have just seen you segment on the One Show, and was thrilled to find an organisation that shared some of my views.

For the past year i have been making small steps to try and get information on civic clocks in my local area of Stratford-Upon-Avon.

I have discovered that there are three clocks in the town, all of which keep time, however, they no longer appear to chime.

Has anybody got any advice on the best way to get the local council or other local bodies to begin costing or indeed taking some action to repair these clocks.
