French Restorative Guerilla Artists repair Stopped Clock

(viewed 2807 times)
This is such a wonderful story.

“Four members of an underground “cultural guerrilla” movement known as the Untergunther, whose purpose is to restore France’s cultural heritage, were cleared on Friday of breaking into the 18th-century monument in a plot worthy of Dan Brown or Umberto Eco”

And who said that Stopped Clocks can’t be sexy? :)

Restart Night

(viewed 2760 times)
Restart : The Night is the party night we have created to raise funds to repair href="" title="Stopped Clocks main site" target="_blank">stopped clocks in the UK.

All over the country there are *thousands* of stopped clocks, it boggles the mind. They range from those cute little ones outside shops used as advertising hoardings, through to enormous and antique clocks at the top of Church turrets and Town Halls.

Restart : The Night is a child of where we are documenting all the stopped clocks in the UK, and then raising funds to repair those most in need. The first Restart party is coming up on the 16th of November, and we're hosting a night of Rock and Roll AND DJ's at Club 333 in Old Street. It's only £7 (£5 concessions) to get in, and there are some seriously ace bands in the line-up:

Blah Blah Blah
blah blah blah
"strong stuff in the tradition of Dury, Skinner, Ray Davies"

Mama Shamone
Mama Shamone
"unadulterated filth" "fucking awesome" "sex on legs" "be-hooded axe demon" "destined for greatness"

The Far Cries

head down to your local indie store and buy, buy, buy." - DROWNED IN

Public Service Announcers
Pop, 80's disco, punk - gearing up for their debut album

Bear Knuckles

"Having recently provided big support for The Draytones, Foals and New Young
Pony Club and more, Bearknuckles are going to rock 333"

Rothamstead Manor-Stopped Clock

(viewed 2739 times)
Hi Alfie,
I am sending this again to you as I did not get a reply from the previous
I saw the program on BBC when you were interviewed about your new web site Not far from me is a place with a stopped
clock that may be of interest to you. It is Rothamstead Manor, near
Harpenden, which dates from the 13th century. Its present appearance dates
from the 17th century.
/> It is owned by Rothamstead Research a centre for Agricultural Research located at
/> Here are some picture of the rather grand building with its clock which is
unfortunately inoperative. I am copying this email to Susannah Bolton who is
head of International and Public Liaison. She may be able to shed some light
on the stopped clock and aid you in your campaign to get stopped clacks
started again!
