Wu-Tang forever, for Earthlad

(viewed 1128 times)
I finally went down and photographed this much loved graffiti. It says 'by Nura' and is dated 1997. No one knows what happened here, but the combination of Wu-Tang and a child has ensured it truly is Wu-Tang forever.

and I've been back in the forest.

these are the ones I liked from today. Top one is wild ginger (Asarum canadense), next is trout lily (Erythronium americanum) and last is giant blue cohosh (Caulophyllum giganteum). The cohosh is not the usual one around here, and it's really purple in about another week when it flowers. These are the photos I like, the ones that are more about shape and light, than identifying a plant.

we burned the prairie in High Park, plant sale coming

(viewed 1322 times)
We burned the prairie in High Park and it looks awful. This robin was really worried. I dug up part of my garden and divided plants for the native plant sale next weekend. I counted. I have about 300 plants to sell.

places I've been. fooling around with kids and small animals

(viewed 2101 times)
I don't do dishes unless I have to. Ramona and Oscar and I do things, like fool around, feed chipmunks and ride our bikes (not Ramona, yet).

Today, the Children's Storefront in Toronto is open

The Children's Storefront opened today for the first time since the old one burned down. Everything is new because we lost it all in a fire Oct 09. This place is special. It saved my sanity as a mother years ago, and continues to do the same for new parents today. It opened today and that is because hundreds of people worked very hard. Sorry to report that no adults are allowed to borrow things from the dressup bins. Not even the Batman stuff.

the children's storefront, heavy lifting

When the storefront burned down, we lost everything--treasured books, toys, all of it. While it was being rebuilt, we worked hard to find replacements, and once we could move in, we had to go get things stored all over Toronto.

building the new children's storefront has taken 15 months

and we now know all about regulations, city inspections, licenses, bureaucracy, and COLOUR. Old people think the phone calls Moscow.
