Important geeky things

(viewed 882 times)
We were testing to make sure that TV would still go out if, say, a
digger cut through a feed to a transmitter - by simulating what would
happen if the feed to all the transmitters was cut (though we
didn't use a digger). The red things are the important plugs, so we pulled them out. The man
running the test had people at various transmitters to tell him what
the pictures looked like, but we were also keeping track of various
'enthusiast' websites where people were, quite helpfully, posting
screengrabs, so we could see what it looked like.

I did a night shift last night, and got to bed at about 9.30 this morning.
Apparently our doorbell's not loud enough...

Interestingly, the card says you can arrange delivery online at http://www.royalmail.com/redelivery - though visiting the page says they're still working on it and it'll be available "early next year". The small print on the card says it was printed in June. Hmm.

on Saturday, while most newspapers were leading with the news that Saddam Hussein had been hanged, the Paisley Daily Express ran with the news that BBC weather presenter Heather Reid has been awarded an OBE.

Lost Consonants

(viewed 1187 times)
Dad bought a case of Beers of the World, which included this one. It reminded me of something that would have come from Graham Rawle's Lost Consonants.
