we've been having off/on electrical storms that are , frankly, making me very uncomfortable.

electrical storms belong in CT, not CA.

they're nice. but. yeah. (did i mention that my computer was fried by the power out we had here a bit ago? yeah. you can bet i unplugged the new/old g3 before i went to sleep yesterday)

any reason for open comments - does the spam element not worry you?

lard says:

Surely that's up to the blog's owner?

I also wonder why you've taken it on yourself to warn mobloggers (half a dozen or so of them, to my knowledge) about the dangers of allowing comments from unregistered users.

After all, spammers will just get themselves IP banned by mat.

It might just be me being suspicious, but I think I'll alert the mods anyway.

do electrical storms make your scalp feel it's crawling? Or is that just me ...

Hi "Registered"

Just to reassure you, alexis or any other current poster, there are quite a few anti-spam measures in place to stop unregistered users posting URLs etc.

Persistant offenders are IP Banned, and everyone has the option of allowing anonymous commenting enabled, but by defaults it's registered users only.

The general theory is not to let spammers dictate the way we run the commenting system. If you wish to discuss this further we'd be happy to hear your input over on the forum

What a strange conversation. Nice photos, he says in an anti-threadrot measure.

Now, are electrical storms just thunder/lightning or something a bit more spectacular? Does your hair stand on end? Cos that would rock.

I know I'm dense, but where the hell's CT? I'm guessing CA = California...

Connecticut?

18th Oct 2005, 11:19

crickson says:

Is that a city or a state? - I get so confused about these things...

18th Oct 2005, 11:43

lard says:

I think it's a state, but I'm guessing to be honest.

*googles connecticut*

It's a state!

Lovely pictures.

Connecticut is a state.
Electrical storms = thunderstorms.

seaneeboy says:

Aaah, gotcha. I love thunderstorms, speshly when I'm all wrapped up and cozy in my house and it's all cooling rain and that outside, and I have a cup of tea (or a red wine) and a jo to cosy up with on the sofa. lovely.

(also, lard, you are up too early. )

CT= one of those tiny things on the east coast. (they say it's a state, but, if it doesn't take at LEAST 5 hours to drive across, I don't trust it. /jokingwesterner)

thunderstorm / electrical storm seem to have the same dictionary definition, but, i've always used the term electrical storm, for the massive, hugely lightning/thunder -things go boom zap crack and explode- storms, that are common in the summer months, in Connecticut.
and
thunderstorms are the wussy(wimpy) things we get here that never seem to be quiet as electric.
